Who She is.

Justine Rhind is a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist with over 25 years-experience. She is a Certified PROMPT clinician and Instructor, one of approximately 60 instructors globally and the only instructor in the UK.

Justine provides expert assessment and treatment for children of all ages experiencing communication difficulties.

Justine was inspired to become a speech therapist at a young age, when she realised that life without ‘chat’ would be much less enjoyable, and significantly harder. She also started to recognise that individuals who could not communicate well, were often deeply mis-understood, not simply because they were unintelligible or had less access to words, but in a much deeper way. Responding to children with this area of need was never optional, and has always been her focus.

Having received her honours degree from University College London in 1994, Justine has worked in both the UK and Australia, and across many different clinical and educational settings. Throughout her practice she has utilised many different intervention tools, and in 2005, her search for improved therapeutic solutions lead her to PROMPT. She took her initial level 1 PROMPT Technique training in Queensland Australia, and has pursued ongoing, advanced training in this area ever since. In 2017 she qualified as PROMPT Instructor and now teaches and mentors Speech and Language Therapist’s in the UK and internationally, alongside her clinical work.

Who she works with.

Her PROMPT skills reflect an interest in motor-speech disorders, however it is her capacity to make a detailed and holistic assessment of your child which means she can advise on, and work effectively with, a wide range of diagnostic categories. She has experience working with;

  • Dyspraxia,
  • Motor-Speech Disorders,
  • Speech Sound Disorders,
  • Dysarthria,
  • Receptive and Expressive Language difficulties,
  • Global Developmental Delay,
  • Sensory-Processing Disorders,
  • Cerebral Palsy,
  • Acquired Brain Trauma,
  • Downs Syndrome,
  • Rare Genetic Disorders.

What will you receive from her.

Justine will provide a detailed assessment to enable you to understand your child’s profile, and from there she will provide therapeutic intervention so as to effectively support the needs of your child. She will also develop your capacity to nurture the changes made in therapy at home. She will collaborate with other professionals involved with your child.

Justine is passionate about seeing your child’s communication skills grow to the best of their capacity. She will work creatively to design therapy that unlocks your child’s communicative potential.

Justine will make sessions fun, functional and rewarding. Above all she will provide a safe place for your child to take risks, and learn, despite the challenges facing them. Being a natural encourager and a skilled therapist, she knows how to enable children to focus on tasks that they have previously avoided, so as to develop speech, language and communications skills, they previously could not.

I contacted Justine about my 2.5 year old after his nursery raised some concerns about his mouth regularly being open and excess dribbling. Justine took the time to thoroughly understand the issue and the flags that nursery had identified as well as a detailed background of my son's life to date. She then provided us with some very useful advice but concluded we wouldn't benefit from treatment at this stage. I really appreciated her friendly and pragmatic communication and felt reassured after speaking with her that I knew how to help my son. I appreciated the time she invested, especially given it didn't result in any specific work for her. Thank you!

Justine is an amazing therapist, my daughter has been lucky enough to see her in London weekly for Prompt therapy for the past 3 years. My daughters speech has improved so much as a result of her seeing Justine every week. I’m so grateful she gets to see Justine and can’t recommend her enough.
